[There's something going on outside 1451 Mitchell today! Two people, specifically Scout and Ema Skye, are sitting at a card table at what looks to be a lemonade stand. Except it's not a lemonade stand. There's a hastily-made, messy sign hanging up front reading "DELICIOUS HOMEMADE LIQ DRINKS, 5 CENTS". There's several pitchers and cups out on the table filled with questionable liquids. There's a very, very strong smell of booze coming from them. And the two manning the table are giggling like maniacs because they're drunk as skunks.

So what do you say, Mayfield? Care to find out what the hell is going on? Do you approach?]

[[Posting order - you > Scout > Ema. I'll be scarce tonight but I'll be definitely on top of tags tomorrow!]]

Uh... fruit. And science.

[Ema can actually answer that question for you, Zevran! Her words are slurred and the more complicated words are hardly intelligible, but science is science and Ema is always willing to give a lesson!]

It's fruit juice. We added yeast and sealed the containers, and the yeast consumed the sugars in the juice as they began to ferment, creating ethanol and carbon dioxide in the process. We filtered the resulting liquid into new containers free of the resulting debris that built up at the bottom--proteins and yeast, mostly--and here we are! Homebrewed alcohol for your drinking pleasure.

It's a crude system, but it's still better than what they call beer in this place.

So, then...this is essentially wine? [That's roughly all Zevran got out of their explanations that was useful.] Homemade wine? [This...probably can't be good, at least compared to the fine drinks from Antiva he's accustomed to. But at least he knows what he's getting into now.]

Yeah, sure! I guess. I dunno how you make wine either. Come on, it tastes great! What're ya waitin' fer, pally?

More or less? [Ema pours him a cup and hands it over.] Here you go!

[Zevran takes the cup and bravely downs it. And, fortunately, it's not as terrible as he thought it would be! But...still not exactly good. Nonetheless, he smiles at Scout and Ema.] Not bad, under the circumstances. [Which is probably true; he doubts he could have done better.]

Hey, ya KNOW it's good. An' better 'n anythin' they make here, right? Right!

Thank you! [Ema beams. Another happy customer!] I'd show you how to do it yourself, but Scout might hurt me. Bad for business.

They certainly don't make brandy here like they do in Antiva...though this is hardly brandy, either. Still, one can hardly complain.

[Zevran winks at Ema.] Injuring his partner would also be bad for business, I suppose. I could always protect you from him while you impart trade secrets. [He's just teasing, as he feels no pressing need to make alcohol.]

No way, man. Secret goes ta the grave! Gotta protect the business. So whattaya say, pally, can we count on yer business in tha future?

[Ema laughs a little.] I thought you were an assassin, not a guardian~

I'm a part of the business as much as Scout, so I'm going to have to say no. [She reaches over and goes to pat Zevran's shoulder, missing it embarrassingly.] Sorry.

'Were' is the word, my dear woman! I am not an assassin anymore, exactly. Besides, I can use my skills for whatever suits me, yes? They are quite versatile.

And I may certainly buy from you again. Not exactly professional quality, of course, but you can hardly beat the price.

Assassin, huh? Yeah I guess ya can't really do much in his town then. Me neither, pally! Beatin' up guys fer BLU is much better than the dumb office job they gave me here. BUt that's why were doin' this! 'S a lot more fun!

Were? Did something happen? [Ema's trying to remember if he was droned or something, but she's far too blitzed to have anything resembling a memory.] But yeah, you're right. Your skills are badass either way.

No, you can't! Which is how we have all these loyal customers! [GRINS.]
